These pieces show exactly why Mexican Cocobolo is considered to be a higher grade than all other Central American varieties-tighter grain, higher contrast, better workability and brighter color.

We have ONLY been importing FEQ Mexican Cocobolo for over 35 years and pride ourselves in always providing the highest grade stock to all our clients.

In case you haven't been to our warehouse, we have an extensive inventory of Cocobolo in a variety of sizes and all material is direct from our very own sawmill in Mexico.

Besides our regular sized lumber, we also have a very large assortment of hard to find pieces such as the extra wide material pictured above.

Most clients are amazed when they first see our inventory and can't believe the sizes of some of our pieces.

Black & White Ebony/Ziricote Walking Cane by John Butts

Customer John Butts from Northern California recently dropped by the shop and showed us one of his recent pieces.

We remember selling John this piece of Black & White Ebony and we think he did a great job of displaying the amazing figure on his cane.

Black & White Ebony is a tough one to find, especially in these longer lengths (36-40")

We still have a few dozen of these long pieces in stock which come in handy when 18" and 24" lengths just don't get the job done.

Black & White Ebony is definitely one of our personal favorites here at the shop.

The figure on Black & White Ebony is just amazing!

The Ziricote handle is a nice touch that contrast well with the Ebony.

Besides the longer lengths of Black and White Ebony (2" x 2" x 36"), we still have plenty of stock in the shorter lengths-

1.5" x 1.5" x 18"
2" x 2" x 18"
2" x 2" x 24"

If your interested in Ziricote, we have a plenty of that material in stock as well-including some hard to find billets.

Give us a call if you have any questions

Here is a unique one-Pacific Yew Frame!

A customer came into the shop looking for a unique frame for a large antique world map.

Here is what he came up with-

He chose one of our 8/4 Pacific Yew natural edge slabs, had us rip it in half and then re-saw each side into book-matched sets.

It is always fun to re-saw pieces and look at the bookmatch-

Anyways, here is a rough idea of the frame the customer will construct.

Now that is a big map! We can't wait to see the finished piece.

The creativity of our customers never ceases to amaze us!

We still have a healthy supply of Pacific Yew slabs in stock here at the shop.

It's all dry, nice and wide, up to 14' long, and is ON SALE for $15/BF!
-Can't beat that!

Primarily used for archery bows, this material is also a good option for fireplace mantles, rustic furniture, turnery, marquetry, carvings...and frames.

Give us a call for more information.

Parota Handplane by Chris Crowley

Customer Chris Crowley dropped by the shop and showed us his Parota Handplane.

We know most woodworkers think of a "handplane" as a hand held tool that is used to flatten rough pieces of lumber, but this type of "handplane" is very different.

These handplanes are used to bodysurf and recently many clients have been making them out of a variety of woods-primarily redwood, balsa and parota.

Chris with his Parota Handplane

Parota seems to be getting the best reviews as a result of its light weight, high durability, and attractive grain.

Many people have referred to it as a good alternative to Hawaiian Koa and like how it is available in larger dimensions that are nearly impossible to find in Koa.

The price of Parota is also worth noting. At as little as $10.00/BF, Parota is a no brainer for projects that require an attractive species at a low cost.

Parota-inexpensive alternative to Hawaiian Koa

We always have a good variety of Parota Lumber in stock here at the shop including 4/4, 8/4, 12/4 and 16/4 thicknesses.

4/4 Parota lumber

Obviously Parota is an excellent choice for many other applications.

Cabinetry, furniture, interior trim and joinery are just some its other uses.

Looks like Koa, doesn't it?

It is by far our best selling wood and is a favorite among our repeat customers.

Solid Padouk Slab Vanity

Here are a couple shots of a Padouk and Bubinga bathroom vanity.
-look at the matching padouk medicine cabinet-

Natural edged padouk slabs nearly always have very straight and light colored sap lines running along each edge.

These well defined sap lines tend to contrast very nicely with the darker heartwood of the tree and when used creatively look amazing as tabletops, bartops and other related projects.

Below are some pictures of similar Padouk slabs we have in stock here at the shop.

All measure roughly 30-35" wide and are about 195" long!

We have four of these gorgeous padouk slabs in stock and all of them are bookmatched out of the same flitch!

Want matching material for a dining table, chairs, bartop, etc.?
Here is your chance!

*Remember-We knock 10% off on purchases of 2 or more slabs, so keep that in mind.

Imagine this as your dining room table!

*We normally don't like to cut slabs but since we have four of these, give us a call with your desired length and we can see if we can accommodate your needs.

Rose Myrtle Bookmatched set-SOLD!

We sold this set yesterday but wanted to show them off just one more time before we ship them out next week.

Pretty much all Tasmanian Rose Myrtle Slabs have amazing color and grain but these two are just spectacular!

Look at the unique shape and figure!

(Rose Myrtle set to be used for a custom desk top)

Both will be used to construct a desktop by the client. (Hopefully we can get some finished pictures once it is complete)

The natural curve on these slabs make them a perfect choice for a desk top. Not exactly sure how they will go together, but should look amazing what ever the client chooses.

(Now that is curly figure!)
