Snakewood Logs

piratinera guianensis, snakewood comes from a small tree found in the forests of Suriname, South America

The appearance of snakewood is much like its name implies- that of a snakeskin or spotty like leopard spots. The heartwood is reddish-brown with black accents or vertical lines. It is very hard and heavy but is capable of a beautiful finish as it polishes out nicely.

Snakewood is mostly used to make drumsticks, rattles, pens, knife handles, violin bows, pool cues, archery bows and is used in inlay work and marquetry

The following pictures are of full logs that we have here at shop. Dimensions and weights are on each picture.
