If you have ever dropped by the shop, you know we always have a neat selection on highly figured pieces of Cocobolo and Bocote laying around.

Here are some pieces we just came across while we were sorting through a lift of Bocote.

This one is the highlight of the batch!

The size alone makes it a keeper- 4" x 4" x 36"! We never have pieces of Bocote that large.

On top of its size, it is filled with this amazing birds-eye/highly figured pattern.

Paulownia Lumber

We just milled up a handful of locally grown Paulownia logs into 1 inch and 1.5 inch thick lumber.

Recently we have had many customers inquire about available stock to construct ancient Hawaiian style surfboards such as the one pictured above. It is also used in other types if woodworking such as woodturning and musical instruments.

The neat thing about these logs is that we milled up everything, crotches, stump sections, etc.

Really neat curly/crotch sections that could be glued up to make some interesting pieces.




If you want to look at a better looking material that is similar in working characteristics to paulownia but a lot cheaper, check out our Parota lumber.

More figure and color (Koa-like) but with the same light weight.

Here are the same pieces with a little denatured alcohol sparayed on them to show what an oil finish will look like.

Kingwood logs-Great Material at a Great Price!

Mexican Kingwood is a tight grained rosewood that is prized in smaller high end projects such as billiard cues, pens, jewelry and ornamental turning.





Also known as "camatillo", Mexican Kingwood has a deep purple hue to it's heartwood that keeps it's color well as it oxidizes over time.




Many wood suppliers only sell pre-cut squares in standard sizes at inflated prices that well exceed $50-$75/BF!

Over the years we have come to realize that different projects require different sized blanks and sometimes standard sizes just don't work.

As a result, we give all our clients the option to purchase the full uncut logs (such as the ones pictured above) at a realistic price of $24.50/BF.





This way they can mill what they want and minimize their waste while still lowering their overall cost.

At $24.50 we are still making a profit and our clients are getting a high end rosewood at under $30/BF- not a bad deal!





Just a few calculated measurements and some careful cuts on a bandsaw and you will be amazed by the amount of material each log will yield. Obviously there is some drop involved with milling a full log but at $24.50/BF it just makes sense to purchase it this way if you have the ability to mill it yourself.

It is a pretty neat species that comes direct from our own sawmill in Mexico, so your purchasing direct from the source!

Late Friday Arrival!-4/4 chechen Lumber

We just received this load of gorgeous chechen lumber late today before closing time-

4/4 lumber in lengths up to 12 foot!

It is also known as Caribbean Rosewood or Poisonwood (we don't like that name either)


This material is a dream to work with. Very tight grained hardwood that is often times filled with amazing mottled figure.

Nice straight stock in great sizes.
