The largest piece of ebony you will ever see!!!

We had this one hidden in the back but decided to bring it out and show it off.

This has to to be one of the largest solid pieces of mun ebony around.

12.5" x 8.5" x 120"!

That is a big piece of wood regardless of species!

African Mahogany Platter by Jeff Neff

Jeff sent us over this picture of a great looking turned platter out of African Mahogany.

If I remember correctly it was about 16" in diameter, great piece.

Wood Boxes By Mike Stafford

Mike Stafford started turning boxes after reading a book by Richard Raffan entitled Turning Boxes. On the cover was a beautiful turned box that prompted him to purchase the book and begin teaching himself to turn wood. After 5 years he is still enamored with taking a small piece of wood and turning it into a box.

Mitch gets his Bing Surfboard restored by Steve Clark

Steve Clark ready to restore the old Bing


Mitch came across this old 60's Bing Surboard about 5 month ago

The condition of the board was a little "rough" to say the least.

Mitch dropped the board off with local surfboard shaper Steve Clark knowing that he is a master at doing these type of restorations.

Delamination, sun damage, numerous large dings, bubbled foam-this board needed alot of work.

Some of the past repair jobs had been done improperly, so pretty much a full restoration was required.

The best part about the board was the classic wood fin and wide redwood stringer.
Much like the rest of board, these also needed a bunch of work done.

Steve Clark does his magic again.

We couldn't believe our eyes when Steve dropped the board off about a week ago.

Everything including the incredible wood fin was fully restored to make the board look practically brand new.

We also love the way the blue contrasts with that great looking 1" wide redwood stringer

Besides these great restorations, Steve Clark also specializes in the construction of different wood surfboards such as the balsa big wave gun and the koa alaia pictured below.

Before and After-Curly Redwood Slab

This curly redwood slab came into the shop about 4 months ago
from a sawmill up in Central California

As you can see by the weather appearance, it probably had been sitting out in a yard for years before it was brought down here to the shop.

All this curly redwood that we have been receiving lately is just amazing stuff!
Once sanded and oiled, the finished pieces just speak for themselves-

Just great looking wood.




Customer Randy Leopold purchased the above slab and this is what he created!

Fabulous looking replica of an early Hawaiian style "plank" surfboard.

Look at that color and figure on this one!

We knew this particular slab had some nice figure
but that rich color only comes out when redwood is properly oiled.
